Blog post 7 3-D model

For this assignment, we were told to talk the image from google earth and take it onto sketch up 7 and convert it to 3-d model. this was the first time i used sketch up so it was very interesting learning all the new shortcuts and tool. we had to make the model to scale. it was very interesting learning everything.but i think i got it down pretty well. i tried to spend as much time as possible on my model.

For the site we are using to hypothetically build our memorial is located across the street from our high school. the lot is sloped at an angle, which would need to be altered to fit the building, or what i would do is make the building be manipulated to the land. the actual land is often looked over in the community, it is just land, with shrubs and dandilions. i would like to keep the land the same and maybe some how build part of the building over the lot, so maybe on the lower part of the lot that slopes down, make the building stand on stilts or something. so the land stays organinc and natural. maybe even keeping he wild lifes presence still there. i also plan on incorperating the sky into my building< class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5">celing or skylights, still keeping that natural essence. because the site doesnt have many pretty surroundings persay, i would like to make the internal beautiful so the outside was not neccesairy to show on street level. the plants will also be a buig part on the lot. landscaping

Collage

For my collage i collected an assortment of photographs from Frank lloyd wright houses. what i did was fine similar shades and shapes in the face of the houses and combined them together. what i did was took tan images from similar versions of houses. frank lloyd wright took alot of retangular faces in his houses, so i made them one, i did it in two lines. in one of them, it is a retaining wall that bends around a corner into another picture. in the other one i combined the face of a house that had large windows and made them one image.

Google Docs

Today we learned how yo use google docs in class. I understand the concept fairly well, i think there is more i can learn with time, but so far i think the uses are pretty helpful. for our first assignment that we will be publishing on google docs consists of the perspective of our featured artist/person that (in my case a memorial for frank lloyd wright) google pro has many uses that go along with this class. some are posting our work into the class so our peers can edit and revise it. this can be helpful on getting the outside views on work and things that could be helpful. other things it can be convenient for the teacher to check our work. one of my personal favorites is that it saves paper resources, so we dont have to waist ink, paper, stapes. etc.

Memorial subject.

i am choosing to design a memorial for Frank lloyd wright the reason i picked him is because he is the father of modern architecture, and he has inspired countless designs and ideas. I personally am inspired by him because I want to get into residential architecture and his house plans have been one of my favorite to look at and aspire to. there are already many organizations that honor Frank lloyd wright and his work. what i would do is make a local memorial that caould educate people on his great lifes work. some of his fimiliar work is the house he designed that sits atop a waterfall. One of the most popularly visited designs
is the Guggenheim Museum in New york City. overall
I think that frank lloyd wright would be a great person to display in a memorial because he personally has inspired me and i would like to share his ideas with members of our local aloha community.

Architecture 2 class overview

Architecture 2 is about designing a site for a memorial, the memorial should symbolize the person/event that it is displaying. the site that the memorial is being built on is the one that is located across from aloha high school. the memorial should be designed to help express and honor the person. the design should express beauty with a warmth, and comfort to it. each person should be able to walk into the memorial not knowing anything about the person, and be completely educated, by plaques and other information about the person whom is being portrayed and memorialized.

Entry 1 Blogging in Architecture

Blogging can be used in this class to allow the students to view one anothers work. how this helps us, i am not entierly positive all the uses at this moment, but I am sure I will find out soon enough. We might use it to view eachothers creative ideas and share our thoughts and disguss. we could also look at eachothers blogs and tell them what we think about their work without leaving out chair. it will also be used to document all of our progress and see how far we have come. These are some uses for this specific class. According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blogging Blogging means that an individual maintains his own work and oppinions to his own personal spot on the web. Blog popularity has boomed in the past years because people enjoy sharing their ideas and reading their friends opinions and thoughts. blogging in architecture is no exception. Architects can use it to express opinions about design, and they can comment on other architects blogs as well.
